Prayer Shawl Outreach

Prayer shawlsSince our beginning in Jan. 2005, we have given out over 700 shawls, robes and blankets. Over forty people have knitted and crocheted these items, which have gone all over this country and as far away as Europe, Africa, Asia, and So. America. They are a lasting reminder to the recipients that God’s abiding love and comfort is always there for us.

All are welcome to knit and worship with us. You don’t have to be a Methodist to make a shawl or to receive one. All that is needed is a loving heart and a desire to help. We will teach those who don’t know how to knit or crochet. You don’t even have to attend our group meetings. We’ll be happy to accept donations of finished products.

We meet every Tuesday morning at 9:00 A.M. in the Florence Porter Room at the church.

All donations are gratefully accepted:  yarn, knitting needles and crochet hooks, patterns, ideas and the funds to purchase what is needed. We’ll even accept quilted baby blankets and lap robes, or the materials to make them.

For you created my inmost being;

      You knit me together in my mother’s womb

I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;

      Your works are wonderful,

 I know that full well.

Psalm 139:13-14 [show] For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother's womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well.
